Working on “k”
Working on “k”! Also known as the “voiceless back sound”.
The back of the tongue needs to elevate to the back of the roof of the mouth for this sound. Go ahead, say “kuh kuh” and feel the contact between your tongue and roof of mouth.
If someone has difficulty with the sound, they usually need support and keeping the front of the tongue down while elevating the back of the tongue!
I find that having the child touch the their throat really helps them where their tongue needs to be. It’s a great cue. We were also using words found in his natural play, “knock” and “block” since all this three year-old wanted was to knock down blocks! Who can blame him?
Dancing is not a recommended cue per traditional methodology, but I find it really increases engagement!
10/10 recommend. 💃
